Radiohead is one of my favorite bands. In 2018, I had the privilege and honor of getting a bad credit to see a show in Rio and another one in São Paulo.
On top of that, I made eye contact with Thom while yelling “True love waits!”
It was worth every call from the bank.
Shall we get started?
The first thing that occurred to me when I saw Thom Yorke's birth chart was: the name Radiohead needs to be somewhere in this chart.
After seeing the charts of pilots, poets, scientists, artists and beggars, this for me was a metaphysical necessity.
Touché!
Mercury, the natural significator of electronic communication devices (radio), is in the 1st house (the head).
Radiohead.
Also, Mercury rules the 12th house (self-sabotage, isolation, paranoia).
Paranoid Android.
Cute. Let's proceed.
As I proceeded, my focus naturally went to Saturn and Moon conjunct in Aries. They seem to draw attention.
In men, the Sun symbolizes the right eye and the Moon, the left eye. In women, the opposite.
In Thom Yorke's case, the Moon is conjunct Saturn. The great malefic is poorly positioned in Aries ♈️ (natural significator of the head), its fall, and retrograde.
Saturn couldn't be worse.
Very close to both Moon and Saturn, is the star ⭐️ Baten Kaitos (from the belly of Cetus). Its meaning is "the weight of matter".
To make things even worse, Moon and Saturn are conjunct Mars, the little malefic and ruler of the 7th house, by antiscion.
In the artist's concrete life, this manifested itself as a problem in the left eye: in the absence of muscle strength, the eyelid weighs down and rests on the eye.
And that's not all.
I'll say it again, because some people will come to this post without having read the others.
The birth chart does not condemn or define anyone's destiny. It is a set of symbols that unfold over time.
Moving on:
This conjunction between Moon, Saturn, Mars and ⭐️ Baten Kaitos could manifest itself in a thousand different ways.
The Moon (left eye) is terribly aflict.
In this case, it's obvious: Thom Yorke has the famous lazy eye.
Follow me around
Radiohead's frontman is a peculiar person: immersed in his world, he doesn't like to be recognized in public, avoids talking to fans most of the time and almost no one gets a photo with him.
He hates being recognized.
His reactions are, to an extent, unpredictable, and among fans he ranges from antisocial to genius.
As odd as it may seem, this also seems to be symbolized in this strange conjunction between the Moon, Saturn and Mars.
In the renowned textbook on astrocharacterology, the old man Olavo de Carvalho, whose profession was to be right, explains that the 7th house deals with the native's relationship with the other, the inevitable reference.
In the case of Saturn in the 7th house, the individual sees others as observers whose expectations he needs to live up to.
As a consequence, he judges (or tries to rationalize) his own behavior based on these expectations.
He is self-conscious all the time.
But Saturn is slow, old, obnoxious, like a fading candle.
As for Thom: trying to control the roles he plays, he feels insubstantial, vulnerable, because obviously he can't please everyone.
If everyone is fulfilling a role, which mask should I wear?
Therefore, there is an internal effort to understand others, who seem more real than him.
Thom ends up imagining people different from what they are; after all, he doesn't have all the data of the situations.
Nobody has.
Well, if I don't know perfectly who the other is, I can end up always treating them the same way with different intentions or the opposite, treating them in different ways with the same intentions.
In short, it is a constant attempt to rationalize others, to completely understand them.
Of course it doesn't work out.
Who has the time and opportunity to know and understand everyone they come across?
And the moon? It complicates the situation a little further.
The Moon does not have a fixed visible form, but cycles between phases. Therefore, it is linked to emotions, desires, cycles. That's why she rules the sign of cancer.
This strangeness in relation to the other gains, in Thom Yorke's case, a sentimental charge: he wants to be liked, approved, and is internally affected by what he thinks others think of him.
The presence of the other weighs on him (⭐️Baten Kaitos). To me, that explains his erratic behavior.
I'm a creep, I'’ a weirdo. What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here.
Just as it's impossible to drive a car and fix its engine at the same time, it's impossible to live, act and understand everyone at the same time - especially when you're famous.
Other honorable mentions are the stars Castor (the head of the mortal twin), in midheaven, Zosma (from the lion's back), conjunct Mars, and Denebola (the lion's tail) conjunct Jupiter, but that's a story for another time.
